    For the People

When writing something it's never just about you its always about your audience and nothing changes when writing a website.  It's all about the people.  How will they interpret your style, vocabulary, pictures, video, and so on.  A good writer understands his or her audience and is able to use their own creativity to please their audience.

Writers must ask themselves who will view my site?  Why will they view my site? What might they have questions about?

The is a processes you must use when trying to understand your audience and I found these tips by Janish Redish to be very useful:

    • List your major audiences- This can be a wide variety of different types of people.  The audience you want to attract is not always the audience you get so you must keep this in mind.
    • Gather information about your audience-You must get to know your audience and never just go off of assumptions alone. Talk to marketing, get feedback from the audience themselves, watch and listen.
    • List major characteristics for each audience-What types of language do they use?  What experiences have they been threw that will help them identify with your page? These are very important questions and can make your site a lot better.
    • Gather you audiences' questions, tasks, and stories-This is very important because without feedback directly from your audience how do you know who really enjoys your content.  You must ask the ones who you are serving because ultimately they are your purpose.
    • Use your information to create personas-Creating a persona that will identify with your audience can really connect your audience to your content.  Everyone likes to identify with something so your chance to create your audience idol is through all the information you have gathered previously.
    • Include the persona's goals and tasks
    • Use your information to write scenarios for your site.
