    Our Ever Evolving Technology

By reading Virilio's Open Sky I believe he would agree with movies like The Matrix and I Robot's concept of machines and technology taking over the world.  In the digital age we live in today, it is clear we have many problems that have to be addressed in order to coexist with our new technology we have created.  With the creation of the internet, social networks, and new technologies how do we make sense of all of it?  What is the best way to govern our new technology? We must answer these questions and many others like it.

    INTERNET

    • Privacy- There are many technologies and networks that can take information about without our consent.  How do we control this?
    • Copyright- Through the internet we have access to any and everything we can possible think of. We also have access to take things that are not ours originally.  We already have laws put in place to help control this but copyright infringement is still very common because of the capacity of the internet and how much information it holds
PROPRIETARY VOICE-OVER-INTERNET PROTOCOL (VoIP)/ PHONE TECHNOLOGY

    • Lost art of face to face communication- With so many new technologies allowing us to communicate even when we are continents away, will there be a generation that does not communicate as well face to face?
    • Lost art of writing- We can now text and email and tweet.  Writing is rapidly suffering do to these modes of communication
Well beyond these minor things Virilio believes that are problems with technology are deeper than we can imagine.

It is scary to think that we could fight wars without using human beings and these machines causes more damage and even killing more innocent people because technology does not have the ability to reason, or does it?

Virilo also talks about the speed of light.  We are always trying to make are technology faster but as Virilio states we have a limit.  How will this effect our future technology? Will things eventually come to a hault?

Technology has allowed us to communicate in so many different ways that has positively effected our lives, but with this power comes great responsibility.  Have we created an end to the world as we know it?
